Is it when you get your first dog and you love her to death and then as years pass you don't pay her as much attention as you used to and then...blink...she's gotten old and has passed away and yet you never knew that the last time you petted her would be the very last time?
Is it when you're on the playground at recess and who you thought were your friends turn on you, calling you names and saying that they don't want to be your friend anymore...then you blink...and realize, they weren't worth the tears?
Is it when you are young and you are playing, teasing and laughing with your sisters until it feels like your guts are going to burst open and your cheeks hurt so bad from smiling while laughing and then you blink...time passed...that quick... and you have the memory but not that exact moment to ever have again?
Is it when you find the love of your life...of eternity actually, and kneel across the altar from them and that moment is frozen in time but then you... blink...26 years have passed and you want every one of them back because if you could, you really would do it allllll over again the exact same way?
Is it when you give birth to your babies and you hold them, smell them, cuddle them, sing to them, you just can't stop kissing them and you even watch them while they sleep and then, yes...you blink...then they are maturing, leaving home for missions and marriage and starting their own adult lives and even though they leave...they still remain your babies?
Is it when someone you love with your whole heart, that you revere as the person you can only dream of becoming and that their very existence in your life is a blessing beyond measure and then...blink...they are called home and all you wish is for one more day with them?
I warned you that I was thinking and sometimes my thoughts go a little deep. I guess that there are times, and moments, in every one's life that you wish you could go back to. Maybe change and little of this or that or react differently to situations.
As I see friends that I have becoming sick with different diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, heart conditions, it has made me pause and realize that at every moment in your life, there is fragility, and we need to be, oh so careful not to break the precious moments because they become our memories and our memories remain with us throughout eternity.

ReplyDeleteI had a dream a few months ago. It was about Milo and in my dream he was about 9 or 10. I woke up actually mourning for that little guy! Actually cried I missed him so bad! "Blink" is right! Time passes, moments pass and we can never get them back. Carpe Diem! Love you, Sis!
